Ritono most welcome on the Toniolo scenes of pitrotecnici Momix, the US company noted that many seasons has elected to Mestre frontrunners square of his most memorable and successful international tours. After W Momix forever, the show sold out for seven consecutive performances last year, Moses Pendleton presents Opus Cactus. The work-jewel already celebrated around the world in 2001 is proposed to fifteen years after its debut in a new look and with a new tribute to Shakespeare.
Born into a short play commissioned in Pendleton from Arizona Ballet in Phoenix, the show has been enriched gradually, the new cadres to become a ballet of its own. The opera tells the Arizona desert, now entered the collective imagination as a backdrop for countless films and TV commercials. Thanks to the costumes of the dancers Phoebe Katzin turn into desert creatures: lizards, scorpions and other reptiles crawling and colorful species of flora and fauna. The effects of light, created by Joshua Starbuck, suggest images of a desert-hot during the day, mysterious and motionless night, poetic sunrises and sunsets disturbing. The ten dancers-gymnasts continually defy the laws of gravity by flying, jumping, bouncing up high stakes, rolling around in a metal structure that seems at first disarticolarsi then compose himself, cross the stage like lightning on tiny skateboards, perform an initiation ritual by means of fire, and more, always to the physical limits. The musical accompaniment, in which the traditionally large reserve attention to company, ranging from Bach to Brian Eno, the inevitable Dead can Dance, tribal dances of American Indians to other original songs of desert areas like that of the Australian Aborigines.
