La Biennale d’Arte ed Architettura e la Mostra d’Arte Cinematografica sono solo le espressioni più conosciute dell’autorevolezza internazionale che la città lagunare ha guadagnato, anche come finestra aperta sul futuro.

In questi ultimi anni interessanti e vivaci iniziative hanno animato l’offerta all’interno di spazi privati o istituzionali, come il Centro CandianiMestre o padiglioni per eventi temporanei, nelle riconvertite aree ex-industriali di Marghera o della Giudecca.

L'Arte moderna e contemporanea trova a Venezia spazi eccezionali, anche negli edifici che ospitano le esposizioni temporanee: dalla Collezione Gugghenheim a Palazzo Venier dei Leoni alla Fondazione Pinault che espone a Palazzo Grassi e in Punta della Dogana, l'antica Dogana da Mar, lo storico edificio risalente al XV secolo, restaurato su progetto del noto architetto giapponese Tadao Ando.
