"Loathing in Two" by Eugène Ionesco depicts the unsustainability of human relationships, with a very strong artistic sign and a good dose of humor.
Two beings, She and Him, live barricaded in an interior, in an attempt to survive the chaos, but they can not: they are only able to exert continued violence on each other, as they are pervaded by a sense of fear and suspicion; outside it is playing the same dynamic in the cosmic sense, in the form of permanent war, a "fury of the world", which in turn threatens and invades their delusional menage. The two dimensions are interwoven, in the sense that there is no possible defense existential anguish and the man who lives by the conflict between beings that results.
Ionesco has portrayed accurately the man produced by our time, in his great and tragic loneliness; it does so with oblique and ironic look, full of invention and ruthlessness, using symbols and enigmatic synthesis, which give this place unique strength and universality of classical text and, at the same time, the lightness of the stage play, communicating ultimately despite the fierce pessimism, the vital power of art.
