The Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, together with the 'Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio (Certaldo, FI), the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation (Venice) and at Wake Forest University (Venice Campus), is organizing a study day entitled "Paolino Veneto. Historian, writer and geographer ". The event will be held in the State Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana Monday, October 24, 2016, from 9.30 to 18.30,

key author in the development of medieval cartography, Paolino Veneto was born in Venice between 1270 and 1274. The seminar will shed light on the figure of considerable interest, as well he saw the first Boccaccio, his great reader and transcriber even if he does not spared harsh criticism, characteristics of a liberal arts education now. Among his many works, the most important are dated between 1321 and 1323, but subsequently updated. Are universal chronicles from Adam and Eve to the present day, including the exposition of the main political and religious events steps containing anthologies of ancient authors, biographies of saints, cards and geographical descriptions, mythological stories, often designed as small independent treatises. Among them magna laChronologia, whose Marciana has the important figuratively original manuscript containing the oldest plant of Venice.
