Florence, Naples, Venice and its Carnival. This director Maurizio Scaparro artistic research builds The Coffee Shop with Pino Micol and Vittorio Viviani, his latest work of Carlo Goldoni.
Dated 1750, The Coffee Shop, comedy of feelings and acting of human beings, is written in the Tuscan language: Goldoni time want the widest possible dissemination of its works and the Venetian, and a little later Venice, the start star tight. Scaparro strictly follows the rules of a Goldoni comedy of feelings and acting of human beings, in a perfect balance between the word and the action on stage, embellished by original music of Oscar winner Nicola Piovani, sets and costumes by Lorenzo CUTULI, winner of the International Opera Awards in 2014 for Best Art Direction.

The action starts at the break of a mild winter morning, and ends at nightfall. The coffee makers Ridolfo is taking to heart the fate of the young merchant Eugene fabrics, that for some time often visits the house by Pandolfo game. There Eugenio suffered huge losses playing cards with Flaminio, a young man from Turin who claims to be noble. The wife of Eugene, Victoria, tries in vain to repent her husband. For the same purpose has come to Venice from Turin's wife Flaminio, Placida, who, disguised as a pilgrim, ignores the new identity assumed by her husband and is exposed to the pitfalls woven by Don Marzio. The latter is a noble Neapolitan bully, ambiguous and chatty, which takes pleasure in impeding the desire of two wives to bring back to the right path and Eugenio Flaminio.

"Among the reasons that led me to stage today The coffee shop, the first think is the pleasure and the desire to go back to talking about Venice and its Carnival, during which the play takes place, from the first light of 'dawn when night falls. Because here Goldoni, who wrote the comedy in Italian, seems to distance himself, before his good-byes, the mink "magic" of the Venetian Republic, to describe in its coffee shop a Venice that even then in danger of forgetting her greatness and to yield to the temptations of a progressive commodification of the city, its sights and its carnivals.
